We are thrilled to have picked up two gold awards and one silver at the 2025 National Hospital Radio Awards.
At the ceremony held in Hinckley, Leicestershire on Saturday evening (5th April) we picked up the gold award in the ‘Best Station Promotion’ and ‘Best Newcomer’ categories, meanwhile the Silver award was for ‘Best Speech.

Station Promotion
Best Newcomer entry
Andrew Woolfe, host of the Midweek Mix, The RG Night Train and Music was my first love picked up the silver award for his honest and frank conversation with his brother titled ‘Just a little prick’ which was all about his prostate cancer diagnosis, with the judges commenting the following;
“This entry stood out with its relaxed, conversational interviews that seamlessly delivered vital medical information about the PSA blood test for prostate cancer and the various treatment options available. The inclusion of a real-life story of testing and treatment added depth, while light humour-like likening a biopsy to a Ford Escort on a ramp-made the topic both approachable and engaging”
Best Speech Package entry
Our friends at Radio BGM based in Llanelli were also winners on the night picking up two gold awards and one bronze award, meaning six trophies were traveling back to Wales.
Despite not picking up a gold, silver or bronze in the station of the year category, we were shortlisted meaning once again we are one of the top 10 hospital radio stations in the UK!
Commenting on the success, Chair of Hospital Radio Glamorgan Jamie Pritchard said,
“It was a great night for us, I’m so happy for Lewis and Andrew who thoroughly deserve their respective awards! Not only for their shows but their overall dedication to the station. I’m really proud of all of the team who make Hospital Radio Glamorgan a great place to volunteer and give something back!
I also want to extend my congratulations to the team at Radio BGM for their wins too, meaning Wales was firmly put on the map when it came to the haul of awards”
