It is with great sadness that we share the news with you that one of our volunteers, Malcolm ‘Mal’ Thomas has passed away.
Mal originally joined Hospital Radio Glamorgan in 2001 and was instrumental in welcoming the late John Wilce and our chair Jamie Pritchard to the station in 2003.
Alongside his son Michael, Mal, John and Jamie presented regular shows on Friday and Sunday evenings as the ‘Motley Crew’ bringing a mix of fun, games and good music to listeners.
Mal decided to leave the station in 2010 due to work and family commitments, but made a triumphant return in 2023 to present on a Thursday and Friday morning.

Chairman, Jamie Pritchard said,
“It’s an incredibly sad day for us at Hospital Radio Glamorgan. Mal was a truly fantastic person with a heart of gold. Funny, supportive and when John [Wilce] passed away, he regularly checked in to see how I was doing. He loved everything about the station, and he was so happy to return to the airwaves in 2023, he’ll be greatly missed”
