The Cardiac Rehabilitation Team popped into see John Webber to tell us about a new programme that are running. They will be visiting the wards to discuss recovery, rehabilitation requirements and outline the rehabilitation programme with Cardiac patients, patients following either a heart attack, heart surgery or coronary intervention. The aim is to ensure that you recover as quickly as possible and take action to help prevent further heart problems.
On discharge, patients are contacted by telephone and some are offered a home visit ten days following discharge. Four to six weeks post cardiac event Patients are invited to a rehabilitation programme which are held in Llandough Hospital, University Hospital of Wales or Maindy Leisure Centre. The programme includes education, an exercise programme, stress management and relaxation. Maintenance exercise classes are available in local leisure centres throughout Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.
